Board of Health approves septic system variance for Woodside Road property

Harvard Board of Health unanimously approves reduced setback variance for septic replacement. Chair Chris Mitchell, members Brad Holub and Susan Kilroy-Ames approved a 72-foot setback from an existing well at 34 Woodside Road, down from the standard 100-foot requirement, for a new Presby septic system addressing groundwater failure. The Board also unanimously renewed 2026 waste hauler permits for six contractors, approved the draft 2025 Annual Town Report with requests for additional grant funding detail, and finalized plans for a March 21 Lions Club Wellness Fair focused on CDC vaccination guidance, PFAS, well water testing, and tick-borne diseases.
Mitchell reported ongoing contamination issues on Mill Road and Warren Avenue requiring alternative water supplies and extended daisy-chain PFAS treatment connections.
