HARVARD — The Harvard Climate Initiative Committee unanimously backed a solar siting bylaw, clearing the way for a Town Meeting vote. Committee member Rich Marcello moved support for the measure, already amended by the Planning Board and Select Board, with Nancy Hartshorne seconding. Energy Manager Andres Correra reported bringing in more than $750,000 in grants during his first year, assisting the town, school and neighboring communities with HVAC upgrades.
The committee discussed a NextGen microgrid project involving Harvard, Ayer and Shirley that initially sought $5 million in state funding but was awarded $1 million, with legal questions about municipal operations remaining unresolved.
