Conservation Commission · Meeting of August 6, 2026

Harvard Conservation Commission unanimously approved a corrugated metal arch pipe substitution for reinforced concrete on the Ayer Road Targeted Improvement Project after concrete became unavailable in New England, with MassDOT agreeing the alternative is viable. The Commission also issued an Order of Conditions for Fire Pond dredging and invasive species treatment on Stow Road, waiving the 50-foot no-disturbance buffer zone for temporary vegetation work and contingent on receipt of a state endangered species determination letter. Chair Jim Burns and Vice Chair John Lee were unanimously re-elected.

The Commission approved a $500 allocation for six benches on Conservation Land and authorized the Department of Public Works to conduct annual maintenance at Reuben Reed Land, avoiding a $6,000 private landscaping contract.
