Harvard climate panel defers January minutes, advances outreach agenda.
Harvard Climate Initiative Committee · Meeting of February 12, 2026
Harvard Climate Initiative Committee schedules spring events and reviews federal climate rollbacks. Chair Ellen Sachs Leicher reported that the committee will release its greenhouse gas inventory despite recent EPA rule reversals, noting Massachusetts' continued decarbonization focus. Upcoming events include a Repair Café on March 14, a MassEnergize Student Solar Challenge on April 11, Earth Day activities May 30, and a Know Your Land Invasives Demo on June 13.
The committee is pursuing a 30,000 to 75,000 dollar grant for replacement and expanded shade trees at Harvard Elementary School, alongside a DOER Technical Assistance application for Bromfield School HVAC design fees. The Select Board is organizing the committee into a five-member "Government and Policy" cluster that will meet several times yearly with other boards for collaboration but not decision-making.
