Harvard Historical Commission continued a public hearing on Five Sparks' proposed three-sculpture installation at the Old Library, with Co-Chair Michael Ewing noting an unresolved jurisdictional question under Chapter 40C requiring Town Counsel guidance. Rebecca Sewall moved to continue the hearing to September 2, 2026; the motion passed unanimously. In new business, the Commission welcomed prospective member Maura Visconsi and Planning Board Representative Richard Abt, while noting that member Seth Trotz is stepping away due to a family health matter.
Commissioners identified FY27 priorities including updating the Historic District Design Guidelines, modernizing the website, and expanding community education and outreach; Sewall will lead a subcommittee on Design Guidelines revision with Nick Roose. The Commission also discussed pursuing Community Preservation Act matching grant funding for a comprehensive historic resource survey, which Harvard has not undertaken in many years.
