Harvard subcommittee backs bench prototype, sets spring walk for April 12

Land Stewardship Subcommittee · Meeting of March 24, 2026

Harvard Land Stewardship Subcommittee moves forward with bench design and spring trail walk. The nine-member group approved minutes and gave working consensus to a hybrid bench design using pressure-treated lumber, while Peter von Conta coordinated response to recent tree blowdowns via the TrailCare app. A spring walk is set for April 12 at 1:30 p.m. on Great Elms and Williams properties.

The subcommittee identified Ailanthus removal at Hermann Orchard as the priority invasive species project for 2026, and the full Conservation Commission sent a letter to the Select Board requesting a no-SGARS policy on town-owned land.
