HARVARD — Land Stewardship Subcommittee unanimously approves prior minutes, addresses snowmobile monitoring and deer program. The subcommittee voted unanimously to approve December 16 minutes and directed members to monitor snowmobile trails as snow melts in March, with instructions to shut down trails when south-facing slopes expose or wetland crossings become muddy. Deer management yielded two animals this season--a doe on Shaker Springs and a buck on Hermann Orchard--but compatibility issues persist between hunting on Town Forest and the adjacent Village Nursery School; a Deer Committee representative will propose restricting hunting during school hours.
Brian McClain's Winter Sow event drew 28 attendees and 11 seed orders. A spring walk is scheduled April 12 at 1:30 p.m. from Murray Lane to Great Elms and Williams.
