HARVARD — The Montachusett Regional Planning Commission unanimously adopted its Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy for 2024-2029 and appointed Chair Kristofer Munroe to serve on the Massachusetts Rural Policy Advisory Commission and as primary representative to the Wachusett Mountain Advisory Committee, with Zachary Kay as alternate pending acceptance. The CEDS document, which required removal of the terms "race" and "electric" per federal Executive Order 14222, identifies regional priorities including infrastructure modernization, broadband expansion, advanced manufacturing, brownfield redevelopment, and attainable housing. The commission has already secured a $447,000 grant from the Executive Office of Energy and Environment Affairs for a two-year Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness project, with a pending $248,330 grant decision expected.

The CEDS will advance to joint adoption by the Montachusett Economic Development District and related committees on August 11, 2026.
