Harvard Planning Board unanimously approves town's acquisition of recreational land and TIP project improvements. Chair John McCormack and board members endorsed the Town of Harvard's purchase of approximately 5.93 acres at 57 Old Mill Road for recreational fields and signed off on mylar site plans for the Ayer Road Transportation Improvement Program project, which will add a shared-use path and crosswalks. The board also heard a presentation on the Rural Life Preservation initiative, a bylaw proposal designed to allow limited commercial uses on larger agricultural parcels to preserve rural character and provide supplemental income to property owners, and directed staff to gather stakeholder feedback before advancing the proposal.
