HARVARD — The Capital Planning and Investment Committee reviewed police capital equipment requests, including a shift to an electric police cruiser and $105,000 in radio replacements. Chief James Babu said he will replace his fiscal 2028 hybrid cruiser request with an electric vehicle eligible for a $15,000 state grant, though internal radio costs would rise about $3,000. The replacement radio purchase for nine units would enable State Police communication; committee members discussed spreading the purchase across multiple years.
A fiscal 2029 request of $165,000 for a new repeater would address radio coverage gaps that currently prevent effective communication throughout town.
