HARVARD — The Harvard Select Board unanimously approved a $16,000 withdrawal from the public buildings account for asbestos removal and carpet replacement at the old library. Town Administrator Dawn Dunbar explained that the town had secured a $100,000 state earmark from Senator Jamie Eldridge but missed the June 30 deadline to execute contracts, despite requesting an extension on March 24; the earmark grant contract was not signed until December 7. The board authorized the interim withdrawal with the understanding that state earmark funds will replenish the account once an extension is granted.
The board declined to pursue terrazzo flooring restoration and will seek bids for lighting work.
