HARVARD — Tree Warden JC Ferguson approved removal of seven public shade trees along Ayer Road during a June 9 public hearing, rejecting only an oak tree at 335 Ayer Road where the property owner objected. The Harvard Department of Public Works requested the removals for the Ayer Road improvement project; DPW representative Eric Ryder attended the hearing held at multiple locations. No written objections were received before the deadline.
Ferguson approved two oaks at 203 Ayer Road, one ash at 256 Ayer Road, three maples at 304 Ayer Road, and a 46-inch catalpa at 310 Ayer Road. The contested 33-inch oak at 335 Ayer Road will be referred to the Select Board for final decision under state law.
