Harvard Zoning Board approves special permit for barn-to-dwelling conversion. Nick Boynton received unanimous approval to relocate and expand a second dwelling unit from 914 to 1,500 square feet at 5 and 5A Old Littleton Road, exceeding the standard 20 percent non-conforming-structure expansion threshold. The Water and Sewer Commission had granted 220 pounds of additional sewer capacity, and the Historic Commission gave unanimous approval to the rehabilitation plan.
The property will remain a legal two-family home: a five-bedroom main house and a two-bedroom second unit in the rehabilitated barn. Board members noted the Special Permit provides clarity and protects against future disputes despite the structure's pre-existing status.
